Artist's Statement
"My art reflects on emotional
issues in a whimsical way, capturing the magic of the world
around us.
My goal is to invoke a feeling of peace, romance and enlightenment while
having fun along the way.
I consider a painting successful when it makes the viewer pause,
take a closer look,
and then smile."

John's whimsical approach to life uses boats as his metaphor as he takes the viewer on an emotional and often whimsical journey. With this series he explores a humorous and surreal approach to expressing emotions.

John received his formal art training at the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Upon graduation, he enjoyed a career in graphic design, illustration, and publishing. He has been painting professionally since 1973 and is still actively involved as a graphic artist, Web site designer and coordinator.
John and his family moved to Hilton Head Island in the summer of 2001 where he now pursues his painting from the beautiful South Carolina Low Country. His original paintings are displayed in several galleries, by individuals and in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, and South Africa.
John currently lives on Hilton Head Island while spending time traveling to his favorite cities of Charleston and Savannah.
